This 20,000 sq ft project called for the installation of a completely artificial garden on top of two roofs covering the newly built Museum of Modern Art . Museum officials wanted to achieve a creative and artistic garden setting, which would require minimal maintenance. There is no access by the public but the garden is viewed by the thousands of New Yorkers that inhabit and work in the surrounding skyscrapers. (NEXT)
Planning was the key to success in this project. Mockups were done to help determine the vast quantities of loose materials, methods of attachments etc. Even tree “roots” had to be invented.
